Ford Escape Hybrid
The Ford Escape Hybrid is the first commercially available SUV hybrid. This version of the Escape combines a 4 cylinder 2.3 L gasoline engine with a 70 kWatt electric motor to create an SUV with good fuel economy and a low environmental impact. The Escape uses regenerative braking to capture the energy lost during braking. An electronically controlled, continuously variable transmission (eCVT) works to blend the contributions from the engine and electric motor.
